Dear Friends,
It’s day 9 of month 1. I had the best visit with my grandparents. We ate out 3 times – all healthy, real food choices. So, while it was cheating it was a clean kind of cheat and I’m so thankful for them making that possible.
So far I’m loving a cash budget – and I’m realizing that I’m a budget hoarder. I keep asking “do I need that”. Nine days in and I only touched my fun money for the tolls to and from Oklahoma.
Side note: if you think you can make it home without using your GPS, you can. But it will cost you $.85 times three and make you borderline panic when the change machines are down and you literally use every penny, dime and nickel you have. At the last toll I just dumped in all I had left, I think Jesus multiplied it because there was no way I had enough…and then I prayed “Oh dear Jesus please let the next toll be the $4 that takes cash” Whew…made it. Also, if you accidentally take all those extra toll roads, you bypass Tulsa, which is where you planned to stop and go the ole restroom, so instead you’ll call your brother and get an update on his exciting life so you can make it to Joplin without peeing your pants.
Anyway – cash budgets are fun. They make you think, really evaluate and appreciate. It also makes me more excited to make plans because I know that I have thought about if I want to spend that money.
Enough about me….
It’s Day 9 people. You’ve made it. How are your goals? Have you felt that week in squeeze of “I’ve been doing this forever or I just can’t do this anymore”? It’s normal. It’s ok. Stick to the process. The process is our friend.
