Dear Friends,
I did it! I committed to a process and a plan and I did it!
My house is down 217 items! Actually, it’s down even more because when I threw away the giant pile of socks that had no mate I only used 1 line.
Were there are few things that may be cheating? Yes. (Like the pile that’s still technically in my ownership but in the garage for a garage sale) Which – if that sale has not happen by the time our college age group goes to Nashville it will all be donated or trashed.
Most items were donated, a bunch thrown away and a few just embarrassing….like the bag of half used lotions I found today that hasn’t been touched in a year – I didn’t even know I had it. It’s also a little embarrassing that almost all of my 217 items came from my room, so many cabinets in our house haven’t even been touched!!!!!!
Here’s what I learned in this process:
- Organizing my life doesn’t have to be a chore – it’s preparation
- I need to start throwing something away each time I buy something
- I do not need any more underwears
- It feels great to succeed at goal
So boom – it was done. Now that I’m on a roll I think January will bring more organization and purging from other areas of the house. We have so many towels and there are some organizations in town that could use them – so might as well move some along!
And those kitchen cabinets that have so much old stale processed food in them – they gotta go in January!
Clean on my friends!
